This weekend I got to do something I rarely get to do...go to Soulard Market all by myself. No kids "helping", no husband "helping". Just me and way to many things to choose from. So many things that I started making a shoot list as I walked through the market. I have my next dozen or so item ideas to shoot now. Today I ended up shopping at multiple stands, not just the favorites.
The first item I found was a crazy shaped eggplant. I have shot eggplant twice already and this third time may have actually worked. They are just so big and dark that they never seem to look the way I want. I also grabbed some fennel this week. I have never actually seen the plant, so was amazed at how fluffy it was. The stems and leaves seemed almost like fuzz or hair.
After the market, I met up with Nathan (hubby) and Belle (daughter) to make a long overdue visit to my favorite rehab shop, Refab. If you live in St. Louis and are looking for reclaimed materials, it is the place to visit. Of course, I spent so much time looking around that I forgot to snap photos. It will be done on the next visit...I hope. Ended up walking out with an old rusted shovel for future use.
